Area Law Enforcement
Roughly 50 vehicles have been marked with what seems to be blood from a person in the German town of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, police confirm law enforcement.
Vehicles, walls and mailboxes were vandalized, occasionally with Nazi symbols, they announced in a release.
Police report they were alerted in the late hours on Wednesday evening, when a man noticed that a automobile in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been covered with a red-colored fluid.
The substance had been placed in the form of a banned symbol, they reported.
Law enforcement then found multiple other vandalized vehicles and building exteriors in the nearby vicinity.
Nazi symbols are illegal in Germany under regulations banning the visible presentation of Nazi symbols.
Officials say preliminary tests indicate the substance was most likely human blood.
"Currently there is no clue as to where it came from; officials are presently not aware of any physical harm in connection with the incident," they added.
City officials stated they were trying "to resolve the case" and have requested to the public for information.
A senior political figure stated the incident made him without words and needed to be resolved quickly.
"This event hits the center of Hanau and reopens the wounds of the right-wing violent incident half a decade ago," he posted on online, mentioning the murder of nine people by a shooter focusing on individuals of immigrant origin in five years prior.
